I have never fired an AK type rifle. I am left handed...does it spit the casings into your forehead if you are left handed?

I would also be curious about getting gas in the face, but I think they are piston.

My Saiga 'conversion' throws brass well off to the right, pretty much perpendicular to the gun. I'd be more concerned about the reciprocating bolt handle.

I'm left-handed, and shoot left handed. Had several AK's, in 5.45x39 and 7.62x39... and if you count the PSL as an AK, in 7.62x54R as well. Never had any trouble at all with getting hit with spent casings, or gas, or the charging handle. Just isn't an issue.

I dunno if they were concerned about left-handed people or not when they designed the AK, but it's actually a pretty lefty-friendly gun. The mag release is fully accessible to either hand, and it's quite convenient to work the charging handle with the right hand while holding onto the pistol grip with the left.

the only auto that kept hitting me with the cases was a m-60 fired from the prone postion in vn, i shoot left handed and never had a problem with any sem-auto firearm. eastbank.

Another lefty/Wasr-10 shooter here. No problems at all.

I'm a lefty and have never been hit in the face. I have had hot brass land on my right arm, but otherwise no major issues.

It is a little disconcerting to see the brass fly in front of your face, but you get used to it.

My AKs throw brass forward about a 45 degree angle. I actually think shooting an Ak lefty is better because you can manipulate the safety and charging handle without taking your hand off the grip or reaching across the gun.
