Looking at possibly buying a 556 to be something different than the ar's I have. Anyway, I have been trying to research them and most of what I have read is positive, but I am curious about a couple isssues that I noticed. I am mainly looking at the 556 classic with rotary diopter.
1) It would seem that rifles made in 2009 had a higher percentage of "QC issues. Can anyone verify this.
2) I have seen a lot of complaints about "cheap furniture" and "tapco crap on a $1500 rifle". Is this just the original model or the newer classics as well? Also, are the swiss style handguards used on the newer classic actually swiss or are they a cheap OEM part made by another company...how do they compare to actual swiss handguards? Is the new swiss style folding stock crap or good?
3) Anyone ever run one hard at a training event/carbine course? How did it fair?
I also have a questions about the 522....where can I get iron sights for it? Sig 556 sights are very expensive for use on a a 22lr and I have heard they don't work well for a 22.
What say you?
