I can only offer you a peripheral observation. The SL-8 is very pricey, just like my HK, a USC .45 cal. carbine, and is also limited to 10 round magazines. Aftermarket parts are rarer for HKs, because there are a lot fewer of them than there are ARs, AKs, SKSs, etc.

While I do like my USC, I'd like it a lot more if I could get a higher capacity magazine for it and, most importantly, if I'd paid about half of what I did for it.

there is a custom mag well that is on gunbroker that you can get for the sl8 to make it accomodate m16 mags for around 50 dollars.

Well, that's a step in the right direction. When I see them at gunshows they're priced around $1700-1800. So if you pay that, then you've got a .223/5.56 rifle that you'll likely inevitably wind up comparing to an AR. What will that premium in cost get you?

+1 what MMcfpd said. I've seen a couple of them at the last few gun shows I've been at (before that they seemed very scarce), but they were in the price range of a top end, fully kitted out AR, or Robinson XCR, etc.

If they were offering a civilian version of the G36 it might be worth it, but for what it is, it seems highly overpriced.

You can get all the parts to make a G36 clone, but by then, you'll have about $2700-$3000 into the rifle.
