Hi guys
Recently bought a winchester model 70 made in 1946. What types of things should I inspect on the rifle? Thanks for the help.

First 2 things that come to mind are:
1. Headspace
2. Condition of the bore (rifling, etc.)

You can do it yourself, with a set of headspace gauges and a look down the bore. Or a gunsmith will probably charge you $25-50 to give it a look-over.

Check back of bolt lugs for galling and bolt face for pitting. De-cock the firing pin and check the firing pin tip to make sure it is round, not broken. Check operation of the safety. Finally check the muzzle to make sure it isn't damaged.
