Compensator devices are, at this tme and level of technology, completely out of place on a serious defense handgun.

They serve no useful purpose.

I know a couple of former undercover Narc cops who'd disagree with that.

Personally I don't want one on a working gun, but I won't bemoan another's choice.

BTW Chuck, did you ever get the PM I sent on 1911forum before its latest voyage into the unknown?

As with any addition to a carry gun, to each his own. I carrya little J frame and have done everything but Comp the gun for carry. Only disadvantage for carry gun would be more flash and slightly longer barrel. Otherwise the choice is a nobrainer. Easier follow up shots and less recoil. BTW they do look nice. If I could only get one to fit on my P-85
