Muzzle loader sight base
A friend's eyes are failing to the point that he feels like he had had his last hunting season with his side lock muzzleloader and open sights. He asked me about magnetic bases for a scope mount on his octagon barrel. I told him "sure, they make them" but now I am unable to find them. Anybody got a suggestion where to look.
He will NOT drill screw holes in his rifle. Says it took too long to get the surface prepared and initial bluing done to destroy it now. |

They do make them but you are going to have to be more specific as to what make and model, you are refering to. I do know that TC use to offer one for their Hawken and Renegade models. You may not have any choice about drilling and tapping. An alternative would be a peep sight, tang mounted and perhaps a fiber optic front beed. Again, it somewhat depends on the make an model. I am not aware of any magnetic bases to flat mounting. ....

A pard over on the SASS Wire found them. Dixie Gun Works carries them.
