1st time posting

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here. Lots of great info shared and though I may not be able to contribute much right now (lack of knowledge) I have been reading a lot and my research skills are second to none. So if you cant find something on the internet I might be able to help. Anyways...if I could bother you all with one question I need help on selecting a first shotgun. I pretty much narrowed it down to the Remington 1187 b/c of price point $650 at Wally World but which one?? There is the Premier, SP, SPS, and Sportsman. What is the difference?? I think I want some thing that shots 3 1/2" shells for duck, goose, and turkey unless a 3" will do. Any advise for a guy who has only shot other people guns before??

Hi KB: The Remy 1187 is a fine gun but I don't beleive it is available in a 3 1/2" chamber. Besides,, the 3 1/2 inch loads will knock the snot outa you, I know..been there. The Premier etc are just different grades of gun,, mostly stock finish and small features. I do like the Premier model best. Good luck

The Rmington 11-87 is offered in 3 1/2 in. Just can't seem to be able to access Remington's website to be able to tell you which one. I think you should choose something in the 3 in. chamber. I'm assuming your new to shooting, so it would be better to start smaller and then work your way up. Starting with 3 1/2 in. would probably get you flinching at every pull of the trigger. But definitley get an 11-87. I've owned for 8 years now and it is a great gun.

Just found 3 1/2 in. in an 11-87. Take a look at Remington's website and look at the 11-87 SPS Super Magnum, SPS Super Magnum Camo, or the SPS-T NWTF Edition. Oh and there is the SP to.

I apologize and stand corrected on Remy making a 3 1/2" gun. I should have looked it up prior to inserting foo in mouth

True,, but I have a big foot and a small mouth. I truly hate saying something that is inncorect because I was going from memory. I guess my only saving point is that I said "I don't beleive" Whew, could have been in trouble if it wasn't for my "disclaimer" I do appreciate the correction and I will put it in "memory". Unfortunatly, at my age, there is just so much memory,, so I guess I will probably forget something else to create space for the new info
