Loose swivel stud on Weatherby
I recently purchased a Weatherby Ultralight 280 Remington. The rear swivel stud is loose.
I can tighten it up, but then it's not aligned perpendicular to the stock and will twist loose when I use a sling. I could try to turn it tighter until it lines up on the next rotation, but I'm concerned with tightening it too hard and stripping/breaking the screw. Someone said I should use some loctite. The scope is sythetic, the nice looking gray/blue one. I really like the rifle and don't want to damage it when I'm fixing this minor problem. Any suggestions will certainly be welcome. |

5 minute epoxy
Get a 5 minute epoxy. Remove the stud from the gun. Mix up a small amount according to the directions and then wipe the threads of the stud in the epoxy, just a small amount will suffice. Then screw the stud back in the stock so it is lined up right. After five minutes it should hold.
