Is there a relatively heavy bullet that for the 220 Swift that can be used for deer hunting?
The deer here in PA are small, 60 to 100 lbs.

60 grain Nosler Partition, Barnes 45 or 50 grain TSX. I've got a stash of 55 grain Zipedo's Im going to use on antelope this fall out of my 220.

Somebody makes a sorta round-nosed 70-grain bullet which works well in rifles with relatively slow twists. Does quite nicely in a .223 with a 1:10; ought do well in a Swift.

If you have a standard Swift twist rate (1:14" or possibly 1:12"), you probably won't be able to handle much over 60 grains. The Swift uses velocity to stabilize with the slower twist rate, where other rifles use a faster twist to stabilize their slower projectiles.

Since the Swift has problems getting heavy projectiles up to speed (the .22-250 is far better at it), you reach the limit pretty quickly.

You're better off choosing an average weight, controlled-expansion bullet, than going too heavy.

60gr Partitions are supposed to do quite well. They're probably the heaviest thing I would try.

45 and 53gr TSXs should do fairly well, also.

Speer makes a 70gr. semi-spitzer that I have used with great success. Oh and the deer in PA get a lot bigger than that, lol.

The Winchester 64 gr PP bullet stabilized fine out of my 24 and 26 inch 22/250's with 1 in 14 twist. Killed coyotes, deer and javelina like lightning and was VERY accurate. I used 38 grains of 4350, bump it up 2 grains for the Swift and I think you will like it.

V. Hunter,
I've noticed the following phenomenon:
After shooting and eviscerating a PA deer (which supposedly reduces the animal's weight by about 30%), and dragging the deer outta' the woods, that thing has at LEAST doubled its weight by the time I get the carcass to the truck, which is why so many 60 lb deer weigh 120lbs when the hunter meets his buddies to tell the tale!
