Will only spend Friday in San Antonio, then departing about noon Saturday, up I-35 via Austin etc.

Is there a store which has the best chance of sometimes having rifles such as Lee-Enfields (#4, 5), Mosin Nagants etc, but is likely to have some surplus ammo such as POF or British-made .303?

Low-cost (max. .35/round), but well-stored surplus .303 ammo is the only practical objective (am Not a TX resident).

We could be about an hour south of Dallas by about 6:00 PM (when most stores close).
Does anybody know the name of such a store within a few minutes drive of this route?

Might want to try Nagel's on San Pedro Ave about 2 miles south of Loop 410.

Nagel's gun stop and Dury's Gun shop are the 2 big gun stores in San Antonio. Dury's is on IH 37, on the south side of San Antonio. You will also have to pass by the Cabelas store in between Austin and San Antonio on IH 35. Not sure if they carry that type of ammo or not, but it's a good excuse to stop.
