Sounds like a dream come true, but I wonder if it would produce a glorious fireball out of a M44 or M38 like the heavy ball does.

Most of the surplus ammo I have is light ball and yes...you still get a nice flash and report. I'm using mid-80's Polish and mid-80's Russian...good stuff.

I have shot thousands of rounds of Czech Light Ball through my Mosins. It IS corrosive, just clean accordingly.:)

If its the Czech "Silvertip" its the most accurate milsurp ammo I've ever used, in any caliber.

The Czech is what I've been shooting. I can't swear to the fireball, since I've only shot it in the daytime out of a 91/30, but it's been completely reliable. I've yet to have a round not fire. It seems reasonably accurate, the best I've gotten is 3" and I'm very happy with that.

Is it silvertip ammo? If so it's pretty good stuff.

I don't think it has much of a fireball. Maybe as long as your tongue but thats it. Nothing spectacular. The stuff I used that had a fireball was either Elbonian or Indian. Accuracy is good though.

You've really got to get a K31 with some GP11 ammo :)

I've used quite a bit. My Finnish 1891 likes it a lot. Just have to wash out the barrel when done since it is corrosive ammo.

Huh, I was just shooting some today through my M44. It is pretty accurate (at least for me and my standards for old mil surp guns and ammo). The M44, though, is shooting a bit high at 50 yds so had to use a little KY elevation which brought my POI off of the black of the B19 targets I was shooting at. Made sure to clean the rifle before putting it away. Shot until the lacquer on the gun's forearm started to bubble. My shoulder will be sore tomorrow.
