Anyone know why Garand receivers are classed as "FFL Only, NO C&R"? They are over 50 years old.
You can get other receivers, such as SKS, and many bolt guns on your C&R. I'm not going to build a rifle, just curious.

Many M1's are NOT C&R since the M1 was made up until 1957.
Most dealers simply don't have time to do a serial number search on each and every receiver, so they FFL all of them.

These are listed as WWII Winchester from SOG (FFL Only, NO C&R). Centerfire has SKS 59/66 receivers marked "C&R OK".
Since the receiver IS the firearm according to BATF, just wondering what gives? Dealer CYA, maybe?

I'll have to dig it up, but basically, it stipulates that a C&R eligible firearm is granted that status based on the historical significance or rarity of the complete firearm, not a stripped receiver. I'll dig up the reference and post it here when I can.
