Nightforce NP1RR reticle questions

I just traded into one of these in a very nice varmint scope, but upon examination, I find the reticle pattern rather confusing.

What the heck size are those circles in the rangefinder?

How much area are they supposed to subtend at the indicated ranges?

What is the drop indicated in the two sets of crosshairs below the central crosshair?

I have been to their website, but can not find any data on exactly how to use the rather confusing set of reticles in this scope.

Any help much appreciated.

Is this the reticle where the middle of the circle is an illuminated dot giving you a lit mildot setup?

Are the dots lighting up?

Is the sight picture to "busy" to use effectively?

Mad Dog,

Sit down, this will hurt.

On the reticle, starting with the bottom, the circles with the stadia lines over them.

Each circle subtends to roughly 9 inches at the given yardage at max power.

From the line on top of the circle to the base line is 18 inches at max power for the given yardage.

From the reticle center cross, going left or right to the
small dot is 4 moa. The dot itself is 1/8th moa.

Further left or right is the heavy portion of the crosshair.
At that point, distance from center is 8 moa.

From the dot on left or right is a vertical bar.
The top of the bar is 1 moa below the crosshair center.
Bottom of the bar is 4 moa below the crosshair center.

Back to the center of the reticle, teh bottom and top of the center crosshair vertical bar is 3 moa from center.

The dot below that is 4 moa holdover.

Top of the bar below that dot is 5 moa holdover, and the bottom of THAT bar is 7 moa. Pardon me while I catch my breath.......we ain't done yet.

Ok, where we left off at teh 7 moa point;

The dot below that point is 8 moa, and the dot itself is 1/8th moa.

To either side of the dot is a horizontal dash.
the inside of the dash is a 1 moa hold off point, and the outside of the dash is a 2 moa holdoff point.

BELOW the dot is another line, top of which is 9 moa, bottom 10 moa holdover.

In the center of the BASELINE near the bottom of all those circles is a dot, 15 moa holdover.

The line below THAT dot at is 16 moa at the top, and 19 moa at the bottom. The line length is obviously 3 moa.

The dot BELOW THAT LINE is 20 moa and to either side is a 1 and 2 moa hold off line.

The line below the LAST ( thank GAWD!) line is 21 moa at the top, and 22 at the bottom.

Look, rather than memorize this trivia, just sell me the scope.

(Once you practice with this you can range anything, and hit targets at great distance without touching the elevation and windage adjustments)

I opened a second window on the screen, and read your data while looking at the reticle on the Nightforce site, and it actually sort of makes sense.
Thanks. I am going to try it out and see how well it works for me.

I much apprecaite your help.
Is all of this available in print somewhere, or do you just get it all by osmosis after using the scope for a while?

I'm sure Nightforce would send you a manual, but hit me offline at [email protected] and I'll fax you the reticle chart and subtension stuff when I hit the office in teh morning.

BTW, it's fast as hell for jackrabbits and such. I can range dope and fire before my buddy even gets his laser to come up to speed.

Good on those peskcy biped variants to about 1600 yards once you understand it.
