California Training Expedition
(cont)

This unique, custom-tailored course offers firearms training by some of the most highly respected instructors in the industry. Bridging the gap between one of the best-known first-generation combat shooters and leading instructors of the next generation, this course aims to show that the more things change, the more they stay the same…

This “advanced” course assumes the student is capable of performing all the basic gunhandling, marksmanship, and tactics drills taught in rigorous shotgun and pistol courses On Demand, including shooting on the move, weapon retention shooting, a weak-hand drawstroke, and weapon transitions with two pistols.

After a brief review, this course continues with exploring one’s close-range weapon potential in an enclosed environment such as a car or home. Emphasis will be placed on close-range tactics with both the shotgun and handgun (close-range shooting, increased speed, takeaways, weapon retention, one-handed manipulation and operation, back-up weapon transition) Stakeout Setup and Staging, alternative aiming methods, handgun ergonomics, impaired vision drills, and downed/injured defender survival will be explored. Vehicular shooting, moving target systems (Enhanced Mirage, Chargers, Laterals), and dim-light/nighttime shooting will continue to challenge the student. Beginning with Col. Cooper’s Color Codes, the course will emphasize problem solving with situational assessment, verbal skills, and de-escalation techniques that may warrant a no-shoot situation. This will culminate in a series of training scenarios with Airsoft weaponry, potentially force-on-force, or non-firing verbal de-escalation.

Prerequisites: Training from specific recognized instructors (or approved equivalent) in Shotgun and Handgun are ABSOLUTE prerequisites for this course.

Bonus Presentations:

John Jardine
· Chief Engineer and Designer of the Valtro 1998A1 .45 ACP Pistol
· Custom Gunsmith/Gunbuilder
Mr. Jardine will discuss the ramifications of common gunsmithing repairs/customizations, good and bad, on handguns and tactical long guns. His experience in both the manufacturing and customizing of firearms are invaluable for the serious gunfighter who must have a gun that will go “bang” everytime.

Tommy Gong
· Certified Instructor under Ted Wong in Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do
· Student of the late Sonny Umpad, Visayan Style Philippine Martial Arts
· Student of Small Arms Training
Mr. Gong is one of the least-known “martial artists” in the world, and he likes to stay “low-key.” He will hopefully be able to show you how to use your knife without stabbing or cutting yourself! No prerequisite required…

Point Shooting Progressions - May 12-13, 2007 - Boulder City Nevada
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 12-13, 2007
Point Shooting Progressions
Boulder City, NV

Force on force training has proven beyond any argument that the traditional shooting range methods are simply not suitable for reactive gunfighting. In this course, Suarez International Specialist Instructor Roger Phillips will teach you the "Fight Continuum". Roger has studied extensively with Suarez International. He has also researched virtually every threat focused shooting system for many years. This course distills it all into one well thought out and extremely applicable system that dovetails neatly into the regular Close Range Gunfighting matrix, presenting the full aspect of the integration of sighted and unsighted fire at CQB distances.

Duration: 2 days 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Ammunition: Approximately 1500 rounds (Minimum)
Requirements: Pistol, Carry Holster, 3 Magazines and Magazine Pouch, Range Safety Gear
Instructor: Roger Phillips
Location: Boulder Rifle & Pistol Club, Boulder City NV. http://www.brpc1.org/

$350.00 ENROLL HERE http://www.suarezinternationalstore....ROD&ProdID=313

Point Shooting Progressions Course Overview

The “Fight Continuum” React as you need to react, see what you need to see, and move as you need to move.

This course comes directly out of my experience in Gabe’s “Interactive Gun Fighting” course. Immediately after the course I went out looking to train with the very best point shooters in the country. This course is a direct link to my findings while training with Gabe, 7677, and Matt Temkin. This course is designed to make a shooter the very best that they can be in regards to point shooting with dynamic movement. It is designed to make the shooter more well rounded and completely versatile inside what is now being called “The Fight Continuum.” After this course you will be able to use your hand/eye coordination to make combat accurate hit from any angle, from any position, throughout your one and two handed draw stroke, with whatever movement is necessary. This course is designed to fill in the gaps in prior sighted fire training so that the shooter can seamlessly integrate sighted and unsighted fire into one “simply shooting” concept.

ITFS II will be a more advanced one day. Taught the following Friday, May 25.

Point Shooting Progressions - May 12-13, 2007 - Boulder City Nevada

This course is now two weeks away (see annoucement post above.) I spent the day working on target stands.

For the guys coming out, I wanted to let you know that if you want to get some work in with your back up guns. This will be an excellent opportunity for that.

Point shooting is all about the urgency of the shot and dynamic movement.....the perfect context for work with your back up gun.

Everybody needs an excuse to go to Vegas and here it is.

I have come up with a few hotel options depending on what the students want to get out of the trip to Vegas. You can stay in Boulder City, which is a quite small town five mile outside of the Vegas Valley. There is no gaming in Boulder City and the hotels are a little more "quaint."

Right in between Boulder City and Vegas we have Railroad Pass. This is where many of Gabes students stayed during CRG and CRGII. Decent rooms, casino, and resturants at a decent price. It is pretty isolated though. Approx. 8 miles from the range
http://www.railroadpass.com/

For something a little more we have The "Fiesta." This is a "locals" casino in Henderson. Much nicer rooms, casino, and restuarants. Walmart ammo supply a couple of miles away. Approx. 13 miles from the range.
http://henderson.fiestacasino.com/te....aspx?p=8&d=32

If anyone needs to entice the significant other with a really nice casino we also have Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa. Aprox. 15 miles from the range. http://www.greenvalleyranchresort.com/

Glock and M&P Operator's Course with Pat Goodale

Folks,

We are hosting the above two courses with with Pat Goodale / P.F.T (www.pgpft.com) at Anvil Rock (Alderson, WV). This first course is the Glock Operator's and it is a 2 day class to be held on a Sat & Sun (June 16 - 17). The 2nd course is the M&P Operator's and this one will held on a Thur & Fri (Aug 23 & 24). Both are very much Handgun I heavy with more advance material including moving targets and scenarios. The course also includes the tactical use and maintenance of the Glock / M&P pistol by the certified armorers on-site.

Info on PFT's Handgun I per say can be found at : http://www.pgpft.com/handgun.htm

This course if is perfect for Glock and M&P owners who are novices and also those who are looking to better improve their handgunning skills. This class is what I took to prep myself for IDPA and such and it helped tremendously. The difference was night and day, before and after. This class is also perfect for the LE individual who could use the extra regimen.

Pat is one of those few that have plenty to share and pass on to his students from his many years as a Specs Ops and Intel officer with the USMC, where he also taught Weapons & Tactics. Pat has also done much for the LE community where he resides as a LEO and is a very well regarded LE instructor. He comes highly recommended and you can find more information from previous postings:

http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=677169

http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=677169

Pat's classes are $150 a day for a total of $300 for the 2 days. Equipment recommendations can also be found on the link given above. The facility recently received a face-lift with some additions including that of a Pro Shop, Templar Ridge. The folks at TR can accommodate any ammo needs for the class and one can also pre-order any ammo requirements direct from their web site (www.templarridge.com , which is still partially under construction - follow the Ammo Link). TR can also prep any accessory requirements including holsters, mag pouches, sights (Warren Tactical), ears, eyes, etc.

For accommodations, may I suggest the Brier Inn which is located in Lewisburg, a small and beautiful historic town with a host of excellent restaurants and shops. For the most part of it, attendees usually find themselves having dinner together after Day 1, and that kinda makes it easier on the need to find a place.

Anyone interested can contact Pat directly at 540.559.4151 or training@pgpft.com or you can always email me.

Thanks a mil.

Current Gas Prices Are Limiting My Training Area

Every year since my retirement from law enforcement, I have sought out and trained with some of the best known firearms instructors* in the country.

This year, with the price of gasoline presently $3.299 per gallon here, I'm going to have to stay closer to home (Central Kentucky).

Anyone know of any defensive handgun &/or urban rifle (carbine) courses being taught this summer or fall within a hundred miles or so of Lexington, KY? I've reviewed those listed above already and find nothing that fits the bill. PM me if you prefer.

* Don't want to name drop but you should easily recognize most of them.

Advanced Pistol Fighting Course in Wisconsin, 2007

September 29th & 30th, 2007 (Class size is limited!)

We have just added an Advanced Pistol Fighting Course in Wisconsin.
www.right2defend.com/sched.htm

Our advanced pistol fighting class will teach you things necessary to survive real world situations. In the live fire exercises you will engage multiple moving targets in various life threatening situations in a 360 degree world. You will learn when and when not to draw your gun. Furthermore, you will also learn to utilize distractions while moving and drawing your gun. Expert marksmanship is NOT what is going to win the fight in most situations! Your mindset and tactics play a larger role in your survival than your marksmanship. You WILL experience stress similar to that of a real confrontation because you need to know how you are going to perform under stress.

This is a two day course. However, because of a large number of requests, we decided to offer you the option of coming one or both days. Keep in mind that some things in day two are based upon things discussed and executed in day one. However, some training is better than no training!!!

Please visit our website for more information regarding this course. www.right2defend.com/itccourse.htm And don’t forget that we offer a 100% money back guarantee. Click here to view the conditions of the MBG.

It is very important that you receive realistic and practical training. Of course, you do need the basics before you move on to realism. The truth of the matter is that a large number of people don’t progress past the fundamentals (standing still, two handed shooting stance, one target, etc). A lot of people don’t spend time drawing and shooting while moving. If you do not train on drawing and shooting while you are moving, and at moving targets, then you are not training realistically for a life threatening situation. Quite honestly, if you do not train realistically then you do not have the skills necessary to survive a confrontation.

August 11-12, 2007
Progressions of Point Shooting & Fighting At Night

Force on force training has proven beyond any argument that the traditional shooting range methods are simply not suitable for reactive gunfighting. In this course, Suarez International Specialist Instructor Roger Phillips will teach you the "Fight Continuum".

This course distills it all into one well thought out and extremely applicable system that dovetails neatly into the regular Close Range Gunfighting matrix, presenting the full aspect of the integration of sighted and unsighted fire at CQB distances.
We will be covering the progression of point shooting and movement with ambient light on the first night. Then the progressions of point shooting and movement with the use of a flashlight on the second night.

Ammunition: Approximately 1500 rounds (minimum)

Gunsite Classes in Indiana

I've attended 2 classes here and the insturctor, facility and training is top notch!

Here is a recent offering:

The Boone County Indiana Sheriff Department is proud to again host Bill Jeans and Morrigan Consulting for a three (3) day course: Advanced Defensive Pistol October 12-14, 2007.

This intense course will supplement the student’s existing handgun training with advanced gunfighting skills based on the Modern Technique of the Pistol and real-world experience. Course material includes practical marksmanship, gun-handling, continuity of fire, malfunction clearance, shooting with movement, mental conditioning for combat, use of cover, wounded drills, one hand manipulation, ground-fighting, weapon retention and more. It incorporates full-contact defensive tactics with live-fire shooting. This is NOT a basic course, and is physically challenging. It is NOT competition oriented. Attendance is dependent on prior completion of Morrigan’s Defensive Pistol class or an acceptable defensive pistol course from a competent training provider. Check with Morrigan Consulting or local sponsor if you are not sure.

See attachment for further details.

As always, the Boone County Sheriff Department welcomes non-LEO students to train alongside our Deputies.

Tuition is $450.

Please email Sheriff Ken Campbell for additional attachments that can be emailed concerning this course.

I don't know where you'll ever find a more knowledgable AND experienced group of instructors then at TDI.

Fantastic training at a VERY reasonable price.
