I dont like Hi-point but what's the point of that video? Is it because they are so cheap they explode? Wouldn't most guns do that? Just wondering

They plugged the barrel with a bolt, and clamped it with a C-clamp. What would happen in an expensive gun by any other name?

I hate to burst your bubble there...but I'm pretty sure most guns go blooey if you screw a bolt into the barrel, put them in a vice grip, and then fire them. Just saying.

Find one kabooming withOUT a bolt screwed into the barrel and then you've got something.

They shove a bolt into the end of the barrel?
The energy has to go somewhere. What's the old adage about a firecracker in an open hand and one in a closed fist?

As you can see, they proved that if you shove a bolt in the barrel of a Hi-Point and then C-Clamp that bolt in place and then pull the trigger, you can force it to blow up! Now, try that with any other gun you like. Sure SOME will just be ruined and SOME will fail in ways that wouldn't hurt you TOO bad but PLENTY will grenade just the same!

It only proves that some idiots just ****** away a little over a hundred dollars to look stupid on the Internet!

I just found something funny...those guys actually aren't idiots.

The Hi-Point in question had been extensively torture-tested over the course of several videos, and they had not managed to destroy it. (If you look at the side of the pistol in the linked video you can see the damage they had already done to it.) They had actually fired the pistol already with a bolt in the barrel (no c-clamp) with no perceivable effect, which is why the c-clamp was there.

From the footnote to one of their other Hi-Point vids:

"The third and final chapter. The Hi-point came out on time despite our best efforts to destroy. If you cannot afford any other gun, you'd better have a hi-point. "

Now, time for someone to see if a Glock stands up to that kind of abuse as well as the Hi-Point did.

Oh, and here's the channel for those interested in perusing the videos:

Enjoy!

Actually, they're not.

Do this to a Glock, yes I did say a Glock, and you will have the same reaction. Same goes for HK, S&W, Ruger, etc, etc, etc.

These guys just wanted to blow up a gun, so why blow up a $500 gun when you can blow up a $130 gun?

Quite possibly the most pointless thing I've ever watched. I don't know of any firearm made that would survive such a "test" (and be functional or safe anyway).

I'm not so sure about that.

Take a look at the 2nd post on this thread:

They plugged the barrel, filled it with gunpowder, put an empty case with a live primer in, then fired it. They were TRYING to blow the thing up. They basically turned a pistol into a pipe bomb.

Obviously it took a LOT to destroy that gun. Congrats Hi-point.

Either way that's a crazy video. Maybe the gun had some 'issues' & it was time for the scrape heap. If not most can use a 'throwdown' or camp gun.

At least Hi Point blew up due to what was done to it. Its pure abuse.

Now imagine a brand of pistol that blows up during normal use, thank goodness such a thing does not exist, especially not in 40s&w.

There are way too many idiots in this world. I have a Hi-Point C-9. I don't trust my life with it. I have too many guns that serve that purpose better. The gun isn't trash as some want people to believe. It isn't equal to a Glock, S&W or Sig either though. It is a good plinker that is dependable if you have the proper ammo & have the mag adjusted correctly.

That was the stupidest video I think I've ever seen! They jammed a bolt in the barrel and clamped it. What the heck do you think would happen to a gun if you do that????

You could probably blow up an M1 Garand that way!

.....Ok, after reading the other posts, I get it - they were torture testing the Hi-Point, and that was their "last hoorah".

Same would've happened with any gun with an intentionally blocked barrel.

Humor, irony and sarcasm are difficult to convey with a written one line post:

So if we all missed the point of your post, maybe the point wasn't that clear.

Sorry then, all of us stupid internet cranks will go back to the "I hate Glock" threads.

Glocks have done that without a bolt in the barrel, so have XD's, 1911s, KARHs, etc etc so on and so forth.

QQ Nub. Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet without proper brackets.

I'll be sure not to do that to any of my firearms. I mean, I was going to do it, but this video shows that maybe it is a dumb idea.

I'm still thinking that a Glock could handle it....

I've had experience with two C9's, and absolutely could not make them fail, no matter the ammo or grip I used on them.

Any gun can be made to blow up under these circumstances, but every time I've heard of it happening to a Hi Point under normal usage, there has never been any proof of it - it's always, "I know someone whose former room mates second cousin had a step-uncle whose half-brother's kid's best friend had one that blew up."
