RWS 9mm 124gr showing up @ wal-marts

Anyone else seen this new RWS brand of 9mm showing up at at their wal-marts?
Stuff is "spendy" to say the least, $17 a box of 50.
I saw it on the shelf last Friday morning, and I as of today I think only a box or 2 had been sold. Have people wised up, is $17 the "OUCH" $$$ for 9mm. **edit** 9mm never lasts more than 2 days on the shelf around me in Florida.

only picture I could find, from an auction on GB

I have not seen this stuff at my local Wally Worlds.

On one hand, there's no way I'll pay $17/50rds for this when my local Warmits have WWB for $21/100rds and Federal for $10/50rds, and one of the above is in stock at least 1/2 of the time. I bought 4 boxes of Federal last Friday.

OTOH I'm certain that a few suckers are going to pay $17/50rds when they visit the Wallest of Marts and they're out of everything else.

I sure haven't seen any at WM, but it is wonderful ammo. Probably not worth the price to plink with, but if you compete with a 9mm, it's worth trying.

Our WM's here in central FL never have any ammo on the shelf and haven't for over a year. I suspect someone is buying it all and trying to sell it on one of the auction sites for triple his money.

RWS makes VERY good air rifles and pellets for them. I would suspect their pistol ammo to be of high quality.

If the price is too much, don't buy it - someone else will

Notice it's ‘Made in Switzerland’.. says so on the box.

That explains the price.

Well it better one heck of alot better than Federal FMJ at $9.50 per box!

i saw that stuff too. it was almost $17 a box. that was a lot for target loads, but way to little for self defense loads. and there was quite a few boxes. especially sicne federal 9mm was sitting on the shelf in abundance right below it for only $9.50

I just happened to stop by Walmart yesterday and they had about 5 boxes of this RWS ammo for $16.97/50rds... next to about 20 boxes of Federal @ $9.47/50rds.

Walmart out here in Augusta, GA had probably 50 boxes of the RWS, priced at 16.97 each... I've noticed a significant increase in their supplies over the past 6 months. Used to be all I found was shotgun and rifle. Now, i'm seeing 40 S&W in both Federal 180 grain for about $13 for 50 rnds, and I snagged a box of 100 Remington 180 grain JHP's for $30. I found a selection of 9mm both in federal 50 count and JHP from winchester and remington. They also had 38 spcl, 357, and 45 acp. Which is exciting, untill I read the official walmart sign stating a limit of 2 boxes per person. Upon asking the guy behind the counter he stated the most of the WW's out here are converting to that regulation over the old 6 box limit in order to better maintain supplys. So I went 5 times this week...

I don't know about this, but I've used RWS rifle ammo that's very good quality and loaded hot.

I was excited to see our Walmart had some 9mm ammo in for the first time in over a month. I was shocked when I saw $17.00/50. Needless to say I left it there. I am sure its awesome for what it is but I just want to kill paper and a metal plate or two.

To rephrase a byline of another member up the page.....There are two kinds of people in this world, those with ammo and those with money. You pay.

My walmart has tons of the RWS now. There's no way I'm paying $17 for 50 rounds though when I just paid $21 for 100 rounds at another local walmart just last week. Usually I call all the local ones until I find the Federal, since it's the cheapest at $9.47 for 50.

Well the good thing is if there is another ammo shortage the RWS will stay on the shelves longer!

My Walmart had RWS for 16.97, and Federal 9mm 8.97. I asked the lady for 9mm's, and she didn't hesitate, she grabbed the Federal's, and then asked "these?"

Yep!

No .38spl though, which I really need soon or I'll be practicing with GDHP's +P if I can't find any soon. That and .357s.

I just might be getting a 9mm revolver.

I also saw some here in N.H. and it was $17 and change, NO WAY when they sell federal for about $11.00. Also its ball ammo and I can buy 100 rounds of WW for about $2.00 more! I have to wonder if its because they cannot get the federal right now, I am hoping that's the only reason.

I'll buy a couple boxes for sure, when I find it. RWS is great ammo...no comparison to WWB,Rem or Fed.

Both my local WW had many boxes of RWS. They were smart and kept them well away from the several boxes of Federal, WWB, and UMC that I was surprised to see on the shelf. Maybe the shortage is beginning to subside.

Keep your fingers crossed that the POTUS doesn't make any more silly comments about guns!

My local one only has RWS in stock. They had WWB last week but have sold it all now. However, one a couple towns over that I often travel too had both this and the Federal 9mm. Is this really worth the extra $7 per 50?

Me too. I wanted to try some, just to see what it is. My Walmart had a case of this RWS around $17 and a also whole bunch of Remington UMC priced at almost $30 a box! I've been buying the Federal whenever I see some, but that amounts to about four boxes in the last 6 months.

Tons of 9mm at my wallyworld. WWB and the RWS. The pd's round here all have 40 cals so all the people that own handguns in my area think thats the magic bullet. Leaves me plenty of less expensive ammo for my puny little G26 that probably couldnt kill a rabbit.

Could they have been a box of UMC JHP's? I have seen a few boxes of UMC that have been higher priced. Upon closer inspection, I found that they were JHP's. It is not printed very boldly on the packaging.
