Tribute to Jeff Cooper(Guns & Ammo)

Guns & Ammo had a very nice tribute to the Master in their Jan. Issue. Several Editors, and colleagues wrote memories about Jeff, and all the accomplishment of his life long passion. One wrote of an instance when Jeff was showing a DA revolver, and relating his joy over the smoothness of the action. Jeff took aim at the gas meter out in the yard and squeezed off a DA dry fire. on the next pull of the trigger.........................................

The instant I read that story I felt a very deep compassion for the Master, and thought, Why, why did he write that?, then the shock dropped off, and the cells started to function, and I recalled the incident reported many years ago. But why now would a friend write this? Then I started to remember all the members of the gun crowd, that SCREAM, That Would Never Happen To ME!

Well now are you SURE?, It can happen, and we all need that reminder in our head always. Safety cannot take a coffee break, I tell that to all my students, young and old. Humble yourself, To Error is Human, Jeff was human even though he seemed bigger than life, He was human.
Thank you so much to the author of that story, That Jeff was human is also a large part of his legacy.

As I have said on other boards,
May the Good Lord have a soft spot in his heart for Jeff just like we do.
Rest easy Jeff Cooper
