In Memoriam -- Labgrade

Labgrade would have loved having TFL open again. He was a standard bearer for all that was right in the world.

I am sad that he is not here to see this.

He will be sorely missed.

Just because we can't see him, doesn't mean he's not here.

I like to think that he, Gunslinger and Gale McMillan are hoisting a few to the reopening of TFL as we speak.

While preparing for TFL's grand reopening last night I was looking through the PM's I still have on file and found this.
I was heading to Ft. Collins Co. to visit a friend and had inquired about gun shops in the area. Labgrade invited me to give him a call and we'd go shootin'.
Unfortunately the meeting was never arranged, time was short and I couldn't work any side trips in. I've always wished we had got together that weekend, did get to meet Albert at the THR get together in Pueblo though.
(SK was my username at that time)
******************
Well & OK, SK.

If it pans out, do give a hollar & we'll see if we can get together for a 1/2 day of shootin'. I've got "some stuff," from some handguns (revolvers, semis, & a kick-butt - not-to-be-believed-make-you-the-envy-of-your-block Contender), bolt & pump rifles, shotguns, to an AR - do say we could have a time of it if you can make it work, &, if nothing else, I'll do the giude-a-day bit for the local gun shops ....

Sorry about your friend re the accident & hope recovery goes as it should.

Only caveat is hunting season is coming up shortly (Sept + & on ... ) & will have to play into all that.

Do let me know if you'd like & we'll take it from there.

AA/labgrade

RIP Alan.

In a sense he is here ... for the simple reason that he is within those of us who remember him .... he left his mark.

Lawdog is right.

Those that are no longer able to post have left a legacy.
A wealth of knowledge, experience, advice and direction are to be found in doing a search of these great contributors.

Yes I agree, they are joyful and wishing us well.

I wish we could link in the Library to those whom have left us, and gone on to Vahillia.

Dang, I knew I shouldn't have tested that pepper spray in the house! My eyes are watering a bit from it.

I will remember all of them fondly. I imagine they're all at the Big Range having a blast. I remember when I first spotted Gale on the board; I thought at the time how we had really become a classy group. And it just kept getting classier.

They are all greatly missed.

If I remember correctly, we lost a number of members over the years who left their mark on this forum. I miss them all and we are deminished by their passing.

Labgrade, Gunslinger, Gail and the rest of our fallen comrads, go with GOD and save a spot on the line for the rest of us.

Greetings,
Al's wife Crystal and I and a few other folks went through the rubble of their home looking to document all of his firearms and find whatever else that might be salvagable. We managed to recover 13 long guns, 6 shotguns and 9 handguns, all in real bad shape, probably a total loss.

We did recover some things that made it worth climbing around in the soot all day. She found her wedding album and a few other photo albums albiet a little worse for the wear, but the pictures were still viewable.

Also found were her sketch pads, wet but not burned. She loves to draw animals. The last one she was working on was a gorgeous big horn sheep.
At one point someone came out of the rubble and handed her a shoebox ful of all of the letters from her Mother over the years.

These kinds of unexpected finds made even the hard core of us a little watery in the eyes.

To Absent Comrades...................

Halfway down the road to hell,
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.

So true, LawDog, we think alike. I met Al at the Colorado get together at my house last September. We were friends from the get-go. Had many good conversations with him on the hunting forum here, too.

Miss him, big time.

Blink of an eye, guys.
Do a special kindness for someone you love tomorrow....or even someone you barely know. Privately offer it up to LG's legacy.
It's just a blink of an eye. Make it count. He obviously did.

I first meet Labgrade on the Eagles Up forum. We sometimes e-mailed each other while on TFL.

When I got the news TFL would be back up my first thought was I sure hope Lab comes back on the forum.

This is a sad day for me. My first post since the return of TFL. I guess it is only right that it is in memory of a very fine person that I will miss very much.
