I am from the Houston area and am wondering where would be some places close to here that have competition shoots. I am not really interested in being an expert shot but just for the fun and experience. Any help is appreciated.

Competition in Houston

Houston is a good place to start if you're looking for some friendly competition. There are several nearby USPSA clubs, some IDPA clubs and even cowboy shooters. Silhouettes, steel, bowling pins, PPC. Lots of choices.

Try looking here:

If you are interested in IDPA shooting I have a page on my site with links to many of the Houston IDPA or IDPA style clubs:

Go to and use the "club-finder" function.

I believe IPSC shooting is the most fun you can have with a handgun.
