I am wanting to get a suppressor for my AR. I am between surefire and AAC. From my reading on here I think it is best to get a 7.62 suppressor to work on all my rifles (556&308) (excluding 22). My question is how do you mount a 762 suppressor on a 556 rifle. Does it mount to a 556 muzzle brake? What is the best way to go about mounting a 762 can on smaller caliber guns?

It depends on the brand you go with.

Most of the "big names" have mounts that will allow a 7.62 can on a 5.56 mount. They are designed so a 5.56 can won't fit on a 7.62 mount.


The best way to mount a 7.62 caliber can on smaller caliber guns is buy the correct mount for that can with the correct thread pitch for the intended host.

silverstang23 My question is how do you mount a 762 suppressor on a 556 rifle.

My solution was to install a Smith Enterprise DC Vortex flash hider on my AR.
The SEI flash hider is designed to accept my .308 Wind Talker sound suppressor.

The AR is pictured in the middle, two M14s on the left, a 7.62 AK and another M14 on the right.



Smith Enterprise also offer DC Good Iron muzzle brakes.
