My 2007 Marlin 336A likes Federal 150 gr and 170 gr loads. I've kept 10 shots under 2" before and my handloads using Hodgdon Leverevolution powder and Hornady 160 gr FTX bullets range from 1.75-2.5" depending on how I'm feeling that day.

After wringing out a number of Winchesters (and a few Marlins) over the years and I came to expect 1 1/2" from them with either Winchester 150 grain power points, or a Sierra 150 JSP over 34.0 grains of H4895.
Exceptional examples will halve that and remain consistent at 200 yards.

My stock pre-64 md 94 will do this for 50 shots off the bench with Seirra 150's and 3031 powder.
I don't shoot it enough to warrant loading lead in it.
