Bought My First Handgun Today

I posted a while back that I was looking at buying my first handgun either a FNH FNX or a Beretta Storm. Well this morning I purchased the FNX .40, I just wish I could find some ammo to go with it. Next thing to find is a holster.

Good holsters...

For new holsters some top brands to check include; Milt Sparks, Ted Blocker, Greg Kramer, Mitch Rosen, Galco, Don Hume, Alessi, Wright Leather Works, Blade-tech, Safariland, Bianchi-Intl, Mernickle, Lawman Leathergoods(STU shoulder holster), Kirkpatrick Leather, El Paso Saddlery.
I'd suggest calling or contacting the maker or firm before you order. Minor changes or delays are common.
Top shoulder rigs include the Aker Comfort Flex, the Ted Blocker Lifeline, the Galco Miami Classic II or Kirkpatrick Leather.

For a leather belt rig, see; , the Predator is a slick design. It has a body shield and band for re-holstering , the sale price is around $74.00 USD.

Bought My First Handgun Today

My first pistol was a Glock 23, back in 2000. I felt like a brand new man owning my very own quality handgun.

That's a nice pistol, did it come with 3 mags and a nice Case? The FNX has several nice upgrades over the Fnp. Learn to shoot safe and Congratulations

Beretta is my favorite brand, but I'm not a fanboy. FN puts out a functional, quality weapon with a notable feature set. It will serve you well.

For what it's worth, my favorite carry loads in .40 are:

Speer Gold Dot 180-grain and 165-grain - I have had the 180s loaded in my PX4 on my night table for some time now, and the rounds are very consistently quality in both shooting characteristics and physical appearance
Federal HST 180-grain and 165-grain
Winchester Ranger-T 180-grain and 165-grain
Remington Golden Saber 180-grain and 165-grain

180-grain shoots a little softer, 165-grain is a little less prone to setback.

For a full list of good carry loads with tests, visit:

For high-quality, consistent tests of ammo in gelatin with 4-layer denim, see YouTube channel :

16 Pistols, 5 Rifles, 1 Shotgun, no time to shoot them

Congrats on the new FNH and your first! As for holsters, I have been checking out Wright Leather works: Banshee or Cobra, SS holsters: IWB, Pure Kustom Holsters: Black Ops Pro, and of course the less expensive Old Faithful or Crossbreed.

Congrats on the new firearm. It won't be your last now that you've bitten by the bug. Stay safe!

Thanks guys, I'm really looking forward to going to the range this Saturday.

6.8 - yes the pistol did come with 3 mags and a plastic carry case.

Thanks too for all the holster manufactures, I'm sure I'll find something amongst them.

Just remember guns are like potato chips; can't have just one. Congrats and enjoy.
