Is the gen 4 G23 OK?
I want to buy a .40 cal pistol. Been kicking around this brand and that, but then today at the range, after shooting my G19, it never fails to amaze me how well I shoot that gun and just how effortless it is for me. It was at that moment I said to myself "if you're gonna buy a 40, buy a Glock".
So....I hear/read various things about gen 4 Glocks, (especially the 9mm) not all of it good. Is the gen 4 G23 a good gun? Is it not as good/as good/better than the gen 3? All opinions welcome. Thanks. |

I have a Gen 4 23 purchased a few months ago. Has the new Gen 4 recoil spring ( http://us.glock.com/customer-service...pring-exchange ) and the new extractor (Glock changed the extractor on the Gen 4 guns) to avoid the Brass to face issue. I've had zero issues with it, love that gun!

I had the Gen4 G23. While I love that size... the .40 in that package is just too snappy for me. I ended up selling it and went to the Gen4 G19. I prefer the added capacity, and I just shoot it better.
I really enjoy shooting my Gen4 Glock 20 with the .40 conversion barrel though.

Probably the most carried gun by civilians. The gen 4 is the latest and greatest technogoly. Better recoil spring makes less recoil, changeable backstraps for an even more custom fit, make your mag release button for right, left hand shooters. They had ( some) few at first with issues but soon they fixed them and all are awesome now like Glocks are. Great gun.

Thanks for all the replies, and for the video plouffedaddy. Was amazed how quick the follow-up shots could be. I'm not quite the shooter you are, but it looked very manageable for a 40.

I haven't gotten my paws on a Caracal in 40S&W yet so I can't comment on it personally but a lot of folks say they give Glocks run for their money in 40S&W.

Right up the road, brand new, is a gen 3 G23 for $529. I figure maybe the different backstraps of the gen 4 prolly make the extra cost worth it. Difference isn't much, about $25. I have been generally trying to buy my guns and ammo local, not really interested in internet sales.
I know I posted that I was after a gen 4, but I had no idea this gen 3 would show up so close to home, at what I consider a pretty decent price. Thoughts on this? Last edited by tristar viper; April 29, 2013 at 05:12 PM. |
