444 vrs 454 accuracy

If you owned two revolvers one is a 444 one is a 454 both of them are the Taurus Raging bull with a 6.5 inch barrel.

If you were big enough so that recoil was not a factor.

If you used the same brand of ammo in both revolvers.

Which one would shoot tighter groups at 25, 50, and 100 yards?

And just how tight would those groups be if you were average Joe in standing position with no rest and no optics?

A lot of ifs here, i know. Guesses anyone?

Just so people are clear on what you're asking...

The Raging Bull has never been offered in .444 Marlin. The Model 444 is chambered in .44 Rem Mag.

So, it's .44 Mag versus .454 Casull.

The individual guns would dictate the size of groups you would get. Neither cartridge is all that inherently more accurate than the other.

Just a thought. The recoil of the more powerful round is likely to make group size larger on that one. Even if you are tolerant. I have 44 Mag and 454 Casull Ruger Super Redhawks and get smaller groups with the 44. vs 454, but 44 vs 45 Colt (loaded hot to 44 Mag levels) the groups are about equal.

In short, my opinion is that at equal power levels, the groups will be equal if all other things are equal. But the differences in individual guns' inherent accuracy will overshadow any difference the ammo makes.

I'll second what Lost Sheep said. Heavy recoil absolutely will open up groups, for most people.

I had no idea. Wow! talk about someone not paying attention. I was looking at the 454 and read how it also chambered the 45 lc. I read the words raging bull 444 and just assumed. Well you know what they say about that word.
