Mossberg 500 Disassembly

So this piece came out of a Mossberg 500A. Don't know much about shotguns, but is this a simple disassembly job, or does it look like a real problem?

Walk your self thru this fine tutorial and it will be fine when you are done...

Small brass drift/punch(smaller then your trigger ass'y pin) and a hammer.

It'll show ya all that in the vid.

Did it fall out without the gun being disassembled? Or is this a spare part found after someone put it back together?

It fell out without being disassembled. I'm guessing somebody disassembled it and didn't put it back right. Fell out and trigger guard is is loose.

So based on the video... and I also looked up a diagram... it is the cartridge stop or cartridge interrupter that came out.

Is this normal?

New to shotguns....(obviously)

It happens pretty easily when you tear down and put together a Mossberg 500. That video will help you learn how to put it together without dropping anything it's in the video.

When field stripping the 500, from my experience anyways, both the cartridge stop and cartridge interrupter will sort of just fall out when you pull out the trigger group. No worries just if you can't figure it out do some YouTube searching. I prefer the tutorial done by the YouTube channel "Life, Liberty, Etc." very informative and to the point

rcase, That would be the tutorial video I linked the OP to...

Yes it is far and away the best to follow... Great for someone who only tears the gun down a couple times per year and the details and nuances are lost in time...
