NC CCW questions
In North Carolina I know that a CCW permit holder can not carry on college campuses. But what about those who commute to college, are they able to legally store a handgun in their vehicle? Is it legal for a student who lives in a dorm to have their weapon locked in their vehicle so that if they go anywhere off campus, they can carry it?
Edit: For a student without a CCW would it be legal to get a safe for a vehicle and have a handgun locked inside of it, or would that still be considered concealed? Last edited by new_camper; December 11, 2012 at 01:25 PM. |

I am pretty sure that would be illegal.
http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/EnactedL..._14-269.2.html Actually, I found this on a quick search. Not the exact scenario you presented, but a firearm in a car nonetheless. http://myfox8.com/2012/12/04/elon-st...mally-charged/ ETA: Regarding the locked gun and no CCW, this should answer you question, clear as mud! http://www.ncrpa.org/faq/cch.shtml Basically, it would be up to law enforcement and the judge.
