Globe and peeps sights for Hawken
I have a couple of Thompson 50 cal Hawkens. Got them about a month ago, used...
I ran across a new old stock Thompson Center 7210 front globe sight. I'm wanting to find a peep sight to go with it. Williams has an FP-Hawken peep sight but I was wondering if it will be high enough to work with the Thompson front globe sight. Any thoughts or would a Lyman vernier type sight work better? I also wondering if the Lyman front globe sight would fit the dovetail on the Hawken. Thanks for any info/suggestions... |

I believe Lyman made a fully adjustable peep that fit the TC. I also believe the front sight should be (or close to) .85 high to work with the vernier sight. The lyman "globe" FS can be had with the euro dovetail or a 3/8s

The vernier/globe sights are good for target work but lousy for hunting. With a vernier you need a tall globe.

Look to see if any of your TC's have the three hole tang. If so, this is for mounting the Lyman Peep sight as well as the one that TC use to sell and can still be had. Lyman also has the front globes... Now then, there are a number of verniers out there and some are not easily identified as to who made them. Dixie list as few but keep in mind that the CTC on the tang, will vary. I like the look of the shorter veriers. Sometimes you will see them listed on eBay or GunBroker. I just went into the Lyman website and could not find the 57SML peep sight. .. Be Safe !!!

I think a Marbles tang site would be nice on one.

Thanks for the info...I might have to back up and punt.
The three hole tang should arrive this week...and the Williams FP-Hawken peep sight should also arrive. I already have the Thompson Center 7210 front globe sight. Does anyone have an idea whether or not the Williams peep will work with the T/C 7210 globe? Looks like the peep sight mounts in the middle and back hole on the tang. It looks like the Williams peep might be too low for the globe...not sure yet. |
