I have resorted to making my own holsters. They fit the gun and my way of carrying.
Well thats one way of going about it certainly not a bad idea though.

this will be my first holster purchase.
It won't be your last. Most people on this forum have a box/basket/drawer full of recommended holsters. My box of not used holsters is carefully hidden in my garage.

I love paddle holsters for clipping onto the waist belt of my pack in the back country, so I can drop my pack and clip it right onto my belt to pursue game without the pack. Or to open carry on my belt on my own property.

For CCW, I have had no use for them. But your situation and YMMV.

For comfort and security... it's hard to beat a good pancake style belt holster

I carry a 1911 in a paddle holster everyday. I chose the paddle holster because I'm a volunteer firefighter and when I'm paged out the holster is easy to remove.
