Daughter got married
Keep reading; this is firearm related.
My daughter got married a week ago today to a guy in the Air Force. Now I have a whole new set of in-law relations. My new son-in-law's brother just bought a .50 caliber (BMG) rifle, a Barrett, I think. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get to shoot it. Believe me, this is getting to be an interesting family.

I'd just tell him that a loan of the rifle and 50 rounds of ammo is part of the "Bride Price"

Buy a dozen or two good quality .50 BMG rounds, then call the new SIL and tell him you'd like to use up your ammo. Let him set up the deal with his brother...and get another 50 rounds ready if the kid says yes !! If he answer is 'no, or not now', sell him the ammo with 100 per cent mark up and try again in a few weeks.

When I married my wife none in her family were gun owners. Now they are all gun owners and they find excuses to drive from Ohio to Illinois just to shoot my small but respectable collection!
Fun times indeed. |

Figuring out how to get a relative to let me shoot a Barrett is a problem I would like to have.

I think you have the concept of the dowry backwards. A bride price is just the opposite. Unfortunately, a son-in-law's brother is not part of the package deal either way. I should have thought of that but I didn't know about it at the time.
Might not be a Barrett. Who makes a single-shot .50 BMG rifle?

Most people who won 50 cals are proud of their guns and like to show them off.
The problem is ammo is expensive for that gun, so get a few rounds and ask to go to the range with him. Bet you want have any problems at all.

Three of my 4 daughters have their own rifle that I converted for them. Two are married and so I was coerced (you know how daughters can be) into building their husbands one. I suppose when the other two get married, it will be the same.
Perhaps you can persuade you daughter to put a bit of pressure on her hubby to pass on the pressure.
