High capacity magazines, push for stricter gun control?

It's a hot topic nowadays it seems after the Colorado tragedy, my heart and prayers go out to all of those who were affected.

However, seeing as how this may come and bite us law abiding citizens in the ass, I was wondering what would happen to those who own HCM' already as opposed to those who do not.

Would we have to give them up and turn them in if a law passes forbiding civilians from owning magazines with a maximum round count of x number of rounds or will this take the route of the AWB of 1986 where if you purchased said magazines prior to the laws passing it would be grandfathered out?

I'm wondering if it's worth trying to get all the "toys" that I want in the future now instead of later, because when later comes, I may not be allowed to get them then due to the craziness that's happened now or in the not too distant future. (This extends to more than just high capacity magazines and such. Sound suppressors and the like.)

This may be paranoia on my part, but I honestly do not trust the way the wind is blowing, especially with all the whack jobs that seem to be in our senate/government as of late.

It's a shame that those who do follow the rules have to suffer because of the ne'er do wells.

There has not been any such legislation proposed in the wake of the Colorado tragedy. If there is, we can start a thread on it then.
