The History of the Second Amendment

I challenge all of you to read and share this information. I'm willing to bet that over 75% of Americans have no idea why we have the freedoms we do...

This paper explains a lot of the history behind our freedoms. Please take the time to read it. You'll likely learn something, I did.

My apologies if this has been discussed before. If it has, I believe it merits repeating.
"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them." -Richard Henry Lee, Virginia delegate to the Continental Congress, initiator of the Declaration of Independence, and member of the first Senate, which passed the Bill of Rights.

That's a treatise I've somehow missed. Excellent resource -- thanks.

That review and many others are found in TFL Library. Look specifically under SAF 2A Law Reviews. The one mentioned above is found under Valparaiso University's law reviews. A ton of great info in TFL Library.
Remember, many times what we view as a curse in the present turns out to be a blessing in the future. Don't worry about it a lot. Things have a way of working out. Trust me on this one. - - Uncle Bill Martino

There is also a wealth of historical information from the various amici briefs on the D.C. v Heller case at the Supreme Court. The Case Filings are here.

Particular attention should be paid to:

Cato Institute/Joyce Lee Malcolm [The Right Inherited from England]
Second Amendment Foundation
Academics for the Second Amendment [Ratification and Original Public Meaning]
Heartland Institute, Prof. Volokh

just to name 4 of the 47 amici for Heller.

Jeez! To go along with the OP's article, I should also have included this amici brief: Rutherford Institute [Resistance to Tyranny]
