Some food for thought. If the full charge of powder fails to drop into one case, due to bridging, then the next case may get a double charge. Worst case scenario would be for the two rounds being loading in sequence and then shot during rapid fire. First round lodges a bullet in the barrel, then the double charged round is fired next….
A lack of planning on your part does not necessarily constitute an emergency on my part.

I load a majority on a proggresive, with a check die,and I still look into all cases as I place a bullet. That is just something that should be done.

As to the OP, it does sound like you are starting at too low a charge(as you stated "I couldn't tell between [B]1.7gr[B] and 7gr). Your 1.7gr comment make me think that is what your using as a start load??.

Anyway, when you look at your manual, it will state STARTING load 3.7(just an example) and a max load 4.9. You should be starting at 3.7, not "12% below starting load", which is what I believe you said in one of your posts. I would relook at your charge and what the manual says. Therein lies the issue? yes?? maybe???

Most powders, if not enough(1-2gr) is put in the case(depending on volume) won't "ignite explosively" just smolder, flash, and smoke,(put a spot on the sidewalk and light it,you'll see what I mean. That would mean the primer is all the pressure you'll get to push the bullet. Ironically ,a primer will push a bullet about 1/2" down the barrel, hmmmmmmmm
