Remington 870 stock

I posted this in the shotgun forum also to see if anyone there would know.
I'm looking at a tactical rear stock for the 870 and was wondering if the stocks are interchangeable with any of the other Remington Models...such as the 742,
they sure look the same from photos and it sure would be cool on my 742....with a bi pod of course.

If I recall correctly, the 74xx and 76xx buttstocks are interchangeable with the 20ga 870 receiver and not the larger 12ga receiver.

well......nothing a file couldn't fix.....

bringing an old horse into the 21 century, now for a new scope and a fore stock.
