Russian "Sniper" .22 pistols

Okay, since this past couple of weeks have the "international pistol thread" and Russian Viking thread, it's time for me to show off my Russian Collection.....

A Baikal IZH 35M .22 pistol with ACTUAL Russian "SNIPER" subsonic ammo (it says SO on the box!) made in Russia in 5.6mm
Notice the length of the bullet! That's even the original box with an emblem of the gun! Grips are modified from the original target form.

Probably most have never seen this one. Won't find one at your LGS!
Imported by EAA, popular about ten years ago with the serious target crowd, and modeled after the olympic Russian pistol that won many gold medals.
Built like a tank and highly accurate.

I've even shot some International Pistol matches with this one.
So this does qualify as "international pistol"

I need to find one of those Russian polar hats to wear when shooting this, though! Super trigger adjustable for everything.

Just though you might like to see something different than my glock!

The Bailkals are nice guns.

The ammo looks like .22, not .22 lr. It works alright in the gun?

It says .22 long rifle right on the box.

I have always wanted to put a few rounds through one of those pistols. What kind of 25 meter groups do you get with it's preferred ammunition?

I am sure the gun is capable of 1 inch groups with the right ammo, but it's been quite a while since I shot it.

During those days, I was classified mid expert level, shooting around 550 to 570 average (93%) in standard pistol competition. Since the 10 ring is 2 inches and 9 is 4 inches at 25 meters, I would hazard to estimate my level was 3 inch groups at 25 meters fairly consistently.

These days, I shoot an occasional 50 foot indoor convention match with it once in a while.

Note on the ammo:
I got the ammo for the cool "sniper" box. Pretty dirty stuff and shot another box and had enough of it.

That gun looks like my old Smith & Wesson Model 78G pellet gun! I wish I still had it. Wondering if it was modeled after that Russian .22?

Did you shoot that gun and ammo in International Rapid Fire matches?

How would it compare to 22 Shorts, as far as recoil recovery?

No, just standard pistol. I had a .22 short conversion barrel for my High Standards that I used for Rapid Fire match a few times. That is a hard match!
I would use that ammo for anything other than display!

haven't had to find any yet, but I hear they are getting harder to find. Even magazines are going for high prices.
