American browning A5 disassembly

The last step to remove the bolt is to remove a pin accessed thru a notch cut out on the right side of the receiver. This gun does not have the notch cut out and I dont see the pin referenced in the take down manual. It is a 20ga model made during WW2 by Remington. Any help would be useful.

It's called a Remington Model 11. Search on that and you may have better luck.

This is before the Model 11, it has the magazine block on the receiver like the A5.

IIRC, the 20 gauge gun has a smaller bolt and doesn't need the notch in the right side, but it still has the hole in the left side to allow the latch pin to come out to the left. You should be able to see the pin in the bolt through the right side cutout and push it out when the pin is lined up with the left side hole. You might need a light to tell when that is, though.

Fired a box of Winchester lead shot #8 2 3/4 and this thing kicked like a mule. Ordered a new recoil spring for a A5 and it is longer than the one on the gun(orginal measures 6 1/4in and the new is 8 3/4in the diameter is 1/16 larger also). There is very little compression with the old one and the new one when compressed is a tight fit with the forearm bore. Ordered a new Remington model 11 spring and it is the same as the A5. Any information about this will be appreciated.

Sure you didn't get a spring for a 12 or 16 gauge? A new one sure shouldn't be larger.

Do you have the friction rings set right? If you don't, the gun will kick a lot and you could damage the gun. Also, are you sure it is for 2 3/4 shells? I think it should be, but I am not sure and if you are not either, best have a gunsmith check it.
