Salton Sea scouting trip- SNIPE! (Southern California)

My hunting buddy and I drove out to the Salton Sea/Niland area to check out the dove fields for the second dove season opener, and we had a great time. We saw quail, cottontail, ducks, and what I'm pretty sure was a few snipe. The snipe were almost pure white, little skinny legs, and the telling supper long beak. Am I crazy or is there a species of white colored snipe? The internet has not been very helpful so far identifying these birds.

To sum it up: Somewhere there is a TRUE BELIEVER training, he will not stop in his mission, he knows only the cause. What have you done today? For your brothers at arms, friends, family, your country, yourself?

The bird pictured I almost certainly a Willet (nonbreeding male judging by coloration), not a plover or Snipe. Plovers have a much shorter beak. South Carolina has alot of Shore Birds with the "tell tell" long beak and skinny legs.

The snipe you'd want to hunt is the Wilson's Snipe

Very small winter population in SC, but its possible to see a few. <<<Range Map
