Help with dating a Beretta 92FS

I purchased this pistol on military letterhead with my commanding officer's (O6) signature. I want to say it came straight from Berretta USA on an offer they made to military personnel. It was made in the US. It was one of the earlier pistols as it has the striaght dust cover and no radius cut out on the back strap. It has a 3 dot sight. It also has all metal parts. The serial number is BER16944* and ends in a superscript 7 with an underline. I want to say I got this around 1994????? Could be off on the date.

P.S. I tried the Beretta website but got nada that said it was a Inox in 40 S&W def not..lol
