Blackhawk Questions

I picked up an old model Blackhawk at a gun show yesterday. It is in suprisingly good condition except someone at some time used the butt as a hammer. The backstrap metal has some small dents and some scratches in the finish. I can probably live with the dents, but what can I use to repair or cover up the scratches, which are kind of shiny?

This revolver must be a fairly early model with serial number 68XXX, since I purchased a new Blackhawk in March 1968 with serial number 113XXX. How can I find out when my new prize was made?

Depends on how well you want them covered up, I guess. Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black will darken the metal. GunKote will cover the scratches. Your call.

As for age, call Ruger Customer Service.

If it's a .357, it was made in 1965.
