Rebarrel a Remington 788
I have been looking for an affordable rebarrel to 17 fireball for my 788/.223. Every smith I have contacted so far quoted prices higher than just buying a new SPS. I have had this rifle for decades and it has ruined the day of many thousands of prairie dogs but the barrel suffered some damage from flooding. Any suggestions?

E.R. Shaw charges $230 for a stainless barrel and $110 to install, which is the least expensive I know of.
C.M. would cost less to buy but would have to be blued or coated. Add shipping both ways. Oops, $20 extra for .17 cal. |
