Volquartsen trigger accurizing kit for Ruger Mark II - installation

This morning I got up early and installed the kit, along with an extended mag release that I ordered from Rimfire Sports & Custom. The kit included a trigger (with pre-travel and overtravel screws), extended bolt release, target sear, sear spring, target hammer, trigger plunger and spring.

I used the excellent YouTube video posted by Volquartsen as a guide to install the trigger kit. The guy in the video is obviously an expert who has done the assembly many times, so it took me about 10x as long, but the video is good and helps a lot.

The trickiest part of the installation for me was getting the sear and sear spring installed correctly. The first time through, I didn't catch the spring properly with the sear and the safety wouldn't operate, so I had to take it apart and do that part over.

I'm hoping the new trigger will help me improve my Bullseye scores, I can already see where all the slack in the old trigger is gone with a few turns of the adjustment screws. The extended mag release will also be helpful.

I should also add that watching the video is an excellent guide on how to disassemble your Mark II for a really complete cleaning even if you don't install the replacement parts. Without the hammer, trigger, safety, bolt release and associated parts, you can reach all the areas you would like to get to but can't with all those in the way. The factory stuff goes back in exactly the same way as the Volquartsen parts.
