Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader Q's

Hey guys I'm a noob to the forum. I just have a couple of questions regarding ammo useage and capacity for this Mossberg 500 Tactical Persuader.

The Moss I bought is the model 500 TP with the 18.5'' barrell. I also purchased some 3'' 00 buckshots as well. Upon loading the shotgun, I found I can only fit 2+1 shells.(only 2 if I don't cock the action)

Is this because I'm using 3'' shells. Will I have more shell capacity if I switched to using 2 3/4 length ammo? This gun will only be used for HP. I just want to be able to hold more ammo with out keeping the gun cocked all the time.

Any help would be appreciated. Take it easy on me.

You need to remove the wooden plug from the magazine. Unload the gun. Unscrew the end of the magazine tube, tilt the barrel downward and shake the gun gently until a small wooden plug comes out of the small hole in the end of the magzine. It's about six inches long. It's there, I think, to keep your gun legal for hunting by limiting the load to 2+1. With it removed, you should be able to load up 5+1.
