going to camo those guns... want orange, & not lose the tacticool look - Page 2

thanks for the comments... again... I just used the standard colors in my paint program, & would be using "normal" camo colors in the painting of the gun, I'm just trying to get an idea of pattern, & relation to grip & gun after painted, the gun & grips would be clear coated in matt clear, & I'm sure I'll have to polish out any metal to metal contact points

& that is my 2nd attempt at doing this, the AR, I pretty much copied the pattern on the gun, this one is all freehand... as I refine the pattern, I'll import some more normal camo colors...

all the work involved in doing the gun, maybe I'm better off just parkerizing or some other non thickness corrosion resistant coating on the gun, & just adding a couple blaze orange stripes on the plastic ??? keeping it just flat black & blaze orange

I think you are on the right track ith the parkerizing and then adding the orange. It would be less work and would end in basicly the same results.

Why not do something like this Alpine Pattern. The red color could be sub'd for orange.

Some of those on P-Masters forum seem like what i was trying to describe. Some look real nice...
I wanted to do my el cheapo .22 savage in Florida camo kinda along this line...

with miniature palm frond shape cut into manilla folder but was afraid it would look too much like pot leaf.

Why not paint just the foreend and grip? Easily replaced if you hate it or want to sell. Easy to remove to touch up or repaint if you have to....

I would go with an orange and tan instead of green, that bright green contrasted with orange just does bad things to my head.

Magnum,
Think about the environment you will be in. Make your weapon blend in with nature. A good graphic artist could use a design like this one and your Contender would appear to be just another work of nature.

I think that if you must have some orange I would paint the stocks solid blaze orange and the metal camo. I think you will come out with a much better looking piece.

I'm kinda leaning towards black on the gun, & an orange camo pattern on the grips

since the guy does custom stuff maybe black with black ghost flames on the gun ( that would break up the outlines ) & blaze orange flames on the grips... if the flames were done right, it would be tightly striped like the tiger stripe camo pattern???

Am I missing something here? Why not just find some orange adhesive tape and stick it on the grips? Or some of that orange plastic tape they tie around the top of survey stakes, and tie or wrap some around the grip? When you don't want it, just rip it off.
