Harrison & Richardson single barrel shotgun

Hello there,
A friend has a single barrel shotgun made by Harrison & Richardson with the USA Patten markings MM039549.
He was told that the gun was made around 1900 and some reference has been made that the gun belonged to Bill Boyd...Hopalong Cassidy. I would be greatfull if anyone could shed any light on this or direct me to a site for further informaion. Regards David
