Mosin 91/30 + Poor choice of backstop

I took the 'ol warhorse out today. It's the first time I'd shot it. I hung up a target at 50yds and shot standing and kneeling. I ended up with 6" groups roughly, using Bulgarian heavy ball ammo. Then the target hanger (a 9" diameter tree) came crashing down after 31 rounds. Worry not-- I was firing into a shale bluff that extended about 60 ft above the firing line.

Don't worry, eco nuts, the tree was in ill health after last winter's ice storm. Anyway, it makes me smile.

That's quite the destruction. Where in Iowa are you?

Have a Tula Sniper on the way from InterOrdnance. Hope to have the same luck as you when it arrives.
If it were up to me, the word "got" would be deleted from the English language.

Posting and YOU:

Ahh, nothing like a rifle that chops down trees!!! For the same kind a fun with a pistol, buy a CZ 52, the 7.62X25 will do the same.

i hung a target on an abandoned telephone pole and took 3 shots with a 45/70. when i examined the target there was a hole thru the pole big enuff to put my fist thru. i probably could have chopped it down with not too many more rounds but i left it standing.

An axe is cheaper, though!
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have guns. If I have guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

reminds me of when there was an old house we tore down on some land we bought. All that was left was the chimney. Well ,me an a buddy started at the top with an AR and a SKS. Ate the whole thing down in about 30 minutes.
