Black Powder at Ranges

Why won't indoor ranges allow black powder handguns and rifles?

Aside from the overwhelming amount of smoke and the notorious smell, I really have no idea.

There's one indoor range in South San Francisco that allows it but only at a certain time on a specific day.

My club looked into it as an add-on to our winter indoor rimfire pistol league shoots, but the upgrade necessary to our air handling fans and filters was incredibly expensive. It's a health issue - we couldn't get a health department buyoff without major remodeling.

I bought conversion cylinders for my Remingtons so I could enjoy the indoor range with light smokeless loads here on those cold wet rainey days ..It beats sitting on the couch in front of the boob tube , and I get to fondle my favorite toys more often that way .

I'm spoilt, I can walk outside and shoot them whenever I feel like cleaning them.
