These gun cabinets any good?
I can use my CC reward points to get a $75 GC from Cabela's and with me adding a couple guns very soon, I need somewhere to put them.
Are these cabinets any good? I can't buy a super heavy safe as I will be moving this year. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...799&hasJS=true http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...799&hasJS=true http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...799&hasJS=true |

I can recommend the third one on your list, the Stack-On 8-gun ready-to-assemble cabinet, with reservations. It is NOT fireproof, but it will keep kids out. It was the biggest one that I could haul up to an upstairs bedroom where I wanted to put it. A "real" safe would have to have gone into the garage, but I think the guns are better off in the A/C-controlled environment of the house.
It's assembled with around 100 bolts, all fastened from the inside of the cabinet. A powered nut-driver (I happened to have one) is a big help. I have 5 longguns and 5 handguns in mine, and it's a pretty tight fit, but it works. Nothing fancy, but not expensive and easy to move. If you want to make it more secure, you can always bolt it to the wall studs and floor (it comes with lagbolts for that). |
