Any information on STI GP6 polymer pistol?

Does anyone know anything about the STI GP6 pistol, besides what they say on their website? Anyone know where it came from, any history? I just ran across it and was curious.http://www.stiguns.com

It seems like the Slovakian originated K100 Grand Power pistol.
It is highly possible that they have followed the way with the Springfield Armory or Armalite, buying the trade name and marketing rights for the North American market, and selling the pistols under their name.

Regards.

I would trust the Armalite somewhat, as at least it is a CZ-75 clone, but I haven't heard good things about Wilson's import, and I am not too sure about Kimbers'. I hope this STI is better!

LUPUS is correct. The GP6 is a version of the GrandPower K100. Here are pics of both:

The STI GP6

The Grandpower K100 Mark 6

The GrandPower company website:
http://www.grandpower.eu/_EN_Menu.htm

The specifications and reliability testing of this pistol seem to be very impressive. It will be interesting to see how the K100 does in the U.S. market. On the GrandPower site, notice that that there are many variations of this pistol including two select-fire versions called the K102R and K105R. Hopefully, we'll see some of these cross the "pond" at some point.

Best Regards,

The GP6.....IS a K100 generation 6, guys !...but "retuned" by STI.

STI was so very impressed with them...(which really says something, knowing STI's manufacturing standards reputation) and I've been looking forward for years for this pistol's US arrival...that they contracted with Grand Power to be the sole US importer.

STI will get their first shipment of k100s in about a month after STI and the ATF work out bugs in US approval (actually ATF's fault in miscommuntication regarding STI's requests. Things are being "expedited" now and STI/ATF paperwork is going back and forth by fax now , not snailmail, as a few months ago.

When STI gets the K100, they are going to rework/tune them in their own factory to improve funtionality, trigger action, etc., hammer assembly, etc., etc......it will be Grand Power and STI manufactered improved pistol" for competition or carry. They also will come with different size add-on grips (for no charge)to fit all sized hands.

My name and downpayment are already down with STI and their local FFL to get the first one sold in about 2 months after the STI "reworking". If there is anything "flaky about the Slovakian version, I'm possitive STI will rework it and make it right.

(BTW...Beratta's wholly owned subsidiary "Stoeger" now makes the rotating barreled Cougar....so, it a Stoeger Cougar 8000 now.) A .40 Cal. model which I own also.

Now STI has gotten "tentative approval" from the ATF.
STI has sent them a GP6 to inspect for final approval to sell thru FFL dealers (after STI reworks the K100 into "there GP6".

the latest I've heard from STI.

Well, I hope things go smoothly for STI, and we get another good gun from them! The GP6 does look pretty nice. You'll have to give us a full range report when you get yours!

DanD,

Here's info on the Slovakian K100 that is the manufacturer and will become the "GP6" with modifications by STI:

DanD,
STI just told me they have ATF approval now and have sent an example GP6 to the "State Department" for their examination, testing and approval to import the K100 to STI. Grand Power is standing by reading to import hundreds when STI/State Department give the approval to send.

The reason STI is so interest in the K100 from Slovakia, is that it already has won numerous prestegious shooting competitions in Canada, Europe, etc.) Then STI will modify it in their factory to improve it even more before offering as the GP6 thru Dawson Precision (FFL dealer). Call them (or http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ ) to make a reservation order with 50% down, as I did.

(nothing a few Gold Medals in large highly represented and competed shooting competitions to make (STI) and everyone sit up and take notice of this new gun (at least in US)

Good, then we will get the best of both worlds! A good gun improved by a well-known company. This really sounds like an interesting pistol. Too bad Wilson didn't do some research before marketing theirs...
