Making .308 brass from .30-'06

I foolishly rebarrelled my Garand a few years ago to .308, thinking that milsurp .308 could never dry up.

It did.

I still have a bucket full of once-fired LC brass from before I rebarrelled. How big a chore is it to make .308 brass?

Molwn labe!

Unless you are into annealing, it isn't worth the bother.

And don't think you made a mistake. I redid my Garand to .308 Match years ago, and I wouldn't dream of going back. I love the .30-06 cartridge, but the .308 Garand is awesome.

Trade that .30-06 brass for some once fired .308.
If you think a mighty military force is expensive, wait 'til you see what a weak one costs.

"...Unless you are into annealing, it isn't worth the bother..." Even if you are it's not worth the bother. The .308 is 1/2" shorter, It takes many passes through more than one die to convert 'em.
.308 brass isn't in the least bit difficult to find, cheap. 100 pieces of Remington .308 runs $29.99 at Midway. 700 pieces, with no shipping charges, runs $193.99.
Sell the '06 brass or wait until October and buy another M-1 from the CMP. Reloading makes the endless search for ammo go away and gives you better ammo.

Try trading the 30-06 for 308, a lot less work and may make 2 people happy.
Or sell and buy 308, a whole lot less work.
Have a nice day!
