Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for deer level loads for 416 rem?
I know it is overkill. What about barnes 325 X bullet? Not looking for wimp loads but bullet/loads that make more sense on deer than a 400 swift. |

Ifn I was to try a light load for the 416, I would go with a lead bullet.
You can push lead to 1800 fps with no problems and the cost savings would be tremendous. I used to shoot a 458 Winchester, and used lead for most everything except elk. Shot groundhogs, beer cans, paper targets, anything you can think of- all with lead. It worked just great and turned a blaster into a fun plinker <s> Jim ------------------ Lay up some blackpowder and flints The rest we can build, if need be |

I was thinking of a hard cast lead bullet also figure it should be easy enough to load a 400 flat tip hardcast lead bullet to ~1800 fps which would be like a 45-70 load.
But I am wondering about the 325 or 300 Barnes X bullets for deer and maybe elk...sure don't need a 400 grain bullet for those IMHO. |
