? Re: .454 Casull
I am starting to load for my 12" Encore pistol in .454 Casull. Being it is a single shot, I don't have to worry about the recoil pulling any bullets. But, using either H110 or Win. 296, is a crimp needed to ensure proper ignition of the powder charge? I am going to be using a standard book load, right out of the 4th edition Hornady manual, but it does not mention crimping at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's still a good idea to crimp. I use a heavy roll crimp. It does help to maximize the efficiency of the powder. I have had excellent results in my SRH 454 using Starline 454 brass, CCI small rifle primers-standard, Hornady's 300 grain XTP-Mag bullet, and 31 grains of Win 296. Regards.
